As we have decided not to go with the the stop motion animation, due to some technical reasons, we have decided to make a short film.
The short film is about a ghost, who is lost,alone and doesn't know how he died, this short film shows you the journey of the ghost as he wonders around the park, trying to find some ideas why he is seeing things his not suppose to be seeing and how de died. The genre of the film is more of action/horror/mysterious film. This is the NEXT BIG THING from fugitive WATCH OUT.
This is the location shot we chose for our short film. The location is the little island behind the windsor leisure centre to the car park near alexandra gardens. We chose this location because its next to a river bank which is good for the film, its also got dark tunnels around, and therefore good for the scene were the main character is attacked. Its features such as the forestry and trees around makes the scene more realistic as the main chracters body is going to be hidden.
This is our risk assesment for where we shooting our short film. We will be shooting the short film normally on sundays due to the fact that, the park is less busy at that time and therefore our risk of shooting becomes low. Other risk such as the rain or bad whether may also stop us from shooting and there planning the film shoot on another time.
For my second textual analysis I will be analysing the short film from future shots called Black Hole. This amazing shot film was directed by Phil Sampson and Olly Williams, The short film Black hole’s is more like a drama and mysterious film in genre. This short film features some generic conventions which allow the audience to relate and understand the concept of the film, generic conventions such as a typical sleep-deprived man working in an office whom is very tired and therefore doesn’t know what his doing. In my opinion the man is a works a lot and therefore very disturbed and stress, audience in this situation can relate to the film. This short film has won a few awards such as the Virgin Media Competition. After some research I was unsuccessful in finding who funded this short film. The target audience was directly aimed at all age group and social status from C to D as the can relate to the stress in working. It was also aimed at film buffs and a niche audience as not many people watch short films. As I was looking through some short film on YouTube.
The story line of the short film is a about a depressed and sleep-deprived drained from working too much, but his still trying to stay up and work.As his working he accidentally printed out a paper with a black circle in the middle. Magically, when he puts his hand into the black dot on the paper it turns into a black hole you could put your hands through it. Example if you stick the paper with the black hole on the wall and stick your hands in it, your hands will go through the wall. The man experiments with the paper until the end he tries to break into a safe with money in it and ended up locked in the safe.
The film starts with the title black hole in a white colour text, it then fades out and zooms in to the sleep-deprived and stressed man; this shot shows the emotion on the man’s face. After this shot, the close-up on the man pressing the print button on the printer is shown, this shows the audience his trying to print a document out, but the copy wasn’t coming out. We then see more close-up shots of the man pressing the button again and again and also kicking the printer to print the document out. After this scene a medium shot of a paper with a black hole comes out, the shot is then cut back to the man picking up the paper. After this shot a close-up shot of the man’s face is shown, this shows the audience the reaction he had when he saw the paper with the black hole, long shot of him is shown, showing him opening the printer to check what he actually printed out. After this scene, a medium shot of him drinking water is seen, as he tries to throw the cup into the bin, it falls on the paper he printed out and the cup sinks through the whole. A close-up shot of the man is seen, this shows the audience the reaction and expression on the man’s face, and he then puts his hand to retrieve the cup. After a few medium shots of him putting his hand through the paper, a long shot of him going the vending machine is seen; the scene is then cut back to a medium shot putting his hand through the vending machine with the help of the black hole paper. Series of medium close-ups and medium shot is seen, showing him taking a chocolate bar and eating it. After this scene, we then see a close-up shot of the man’s face to a point of view shot, showing what the man is looking at, as this takes place the door is zoomed in to show the audience what object the man is focussing on. As he opens the door he straight to a safe, series of medium shots but different angles is shown of him sticking the black hole paper on the safe and retrieving money from it. As he takes the money out of the safe he gets carried away and decides to go into the safe. A medium shot of him going into the safe is shown, as he got into the safe, the paper drops on the floor and he his stuck in the safe, the scene is then zoomed out and then fades out to a black background.
This short film is fairly edited an its continuity and flow is excellently done. The sounds in black hole were very basic and amplified, in order to show the audience the realistic aspect of the film, we see this with this when the sound of the printer is amplified.

The film fast and the furious inspired us to make an animation of street race, In this film fast cars is the key factor and in order to make the audience feel the rougness and thoughness of the people driving the car and the car it self, different camera shots, editing and sound was used to make the speed of the cars very effective and exicting to the audience.
In our animation we are going to use the smae approach in other to get that kind of effect.
After some brain storming my group and i came up with a storyline for our animation. we researched of some stop motion animation on the internet and youtube. We decided to make our animation based on street racing, we were inspired by the film fast and furious tokyo drift and Toy story. The story line for our short film is toys mixing in with the real world. The story line begins with toys coming to alive when the sunrises in the morning and go back to thier normal self when its at night. Jack is a new lego toy in town, who loves cars and street racing, due to his obessesion with street race he has been brought to london to find a better life, but when he got to london, he found out that street racing is very extreme more than what he used to do. this animation short film shows you the journey of his life as a street racer in london, mean while toy cars are banned in the real world, due to the fact it is said to bring bad influences to little boys. This short film shows how these toy racing freaks are goin to survive in the real world.
As I have now joined a new group Fugative Production. We sat down for the first time to talk and plan what we want to do for this years project. After some time of discussing ideas, we decided to make a short film instead of music video. So this is our first step to this years project. We further discuss about what kind of shirt film we want to do on MSN Messenger. The Fugative Production have come to a desicion to make an animation film, using toys. Although we have not taught on the storyline yet for this animation, we in progress on doing that and hopefully i will upadate on further notice on our idea
My first Textual analysis is on the short film Black Button, this short film was made and directed by two people Hayden Grubb and Lucas Crandles. The genre of the film is drama, the black button might commonly associate with feature length films due to the fact that, the concept of the film relates to it. Black Button has some generic convetions which allows and shows the audience the category of the short film, example the white background in the scenes represents that the man is in heaven.
As we decided to make a short film I, research on the internet and a found this short film, I liked it and decided to write my 1st analysis of the film.
The storyline of the black buttons, starts of with a man named Jeffery Robers who had a car accident while going to work and his in heaven to make a choice , In heaven he meeets God who gives him two choices, to press a black button and take a brief case of 10 million or take a key to the door and leave. but theres a catch, pushing the black button and taking the brief case means he kills someone on earth. so the question is would he killed someone for the brief case. After some talking and temptation from God, the Jeffery decided to push the black button and take the briefcase. Unfortunately it turned out that he died in the car accident and had signed his papers to hell. The stroyline shows the audience some of the choices u make could change your whole life.
This short film has different shots and camera techniques to show the audience what exactly is going on and also to make the audience follow the dialogue. The film starts of with a white background with a quote "God will not suffer you to be tempted,above that ye are able", "but will with temptation also make a way to escape". It then fades out and in to a point of view shot of Robert looking at God with a little blurriness effect, showin that Robert is not in a good state. the shot is then cut to a master shot showing the whole room and which location they are. Series of medium shots between the two characters is seen in order fot the audience to follow the dialogue. As God introduces Robert to the button, the button is zoomed in, this shows the audience the significance of the button, this is followed by bass sound showin the tension. As Robert goes to the door, a close-up short of the knob is shown in order to show that the door is actually locked and that the only choice is for Robert to make a desicion, we also see this when the a close-up shot of the key to the door and the brief case is shown. As God was tempting Robert to push the button, fast and series of cuts between Robert, God and the button is seen, this shows the audience that, Robert is under pressure and he can't cope, therefore he ended up pushing the button. After he had pushed the button a flash back of what happened before he got to where he was is shown in black and white, this tells the audience that he his remembering his past.
Black button uses some editing and mis-en-scene to emphaise the situation in the film, example the white background fades in with Roberts shirt this effect makes the film more outstanding, also the effects used through lighting makes it more outstanding that we are in heaven.
As we have moved on to Year 13, we now doing a new task completely different to our AS coursework. The task is to produce a music video to promote an artist or produce a short film. In my previous group we had difficulties communicating with each other and other problems, due to this we didnt do our best to make us very successful, also some of the members have left the course. Due to these reasons I have decided to join different group.
My new group members are Aqib Hussain and Blawal Butt and we have planned to produce a short film instead of the music video.
